Traditional Food with a Modern Twist
Food shouldn't be boring! Not for the person eating it but also not for the chef creating it. Plating is part of our creative process and it brings us soooo much joy to serve you beautifully plated, delicious food.
Skip the Posthouse and you've made a mistake.
Sarah-Leigh owns the place, runs the floor, and cooks the food. That's a rare combination — most people who can do one of those three well struggle to hold the other two together. She's carrying the vision from the balance sheet all the way to the plate, which is probably why the Posthouse has a coherent identity, and the woman can cook. We're talking glazed chicken wings with sesame, lamb shank braised until it falls off the bone, a tuna and avo starter that looks like it belongs in a five-star fine diner — and a chocolate dome dessert with a berry coulis that'll make you order dessert twice. She has this thing with red lace tuiles on everything. You'll know what I mean when you see it.
The space is old Clarens sandstone, low light, the kind of room where you lose track of time. Which is fine, because you're not going anywhere fast.
But here's the thing — it's not just dinner. She does brandy pairings with KWV expressions and a properly matched menu. Quiz nights with a guy called Guenter, where people actually dress up. Cake and bubbles evenings with live music. They put the rugby on. Father's Day braai with a live act from noon.
It feels like the place the whole town ends up, whether they planned to or not.
